We recommend wearing comfortable, form-fitting clothing or active wear that allows you to move freely. Beginners should wear comfortable and supportive sneakers. More advanced students may wish to wear samba heels.
Please don't forget to bring a water bottle.
We offer a courtesy express stretch class after each of our dance classes. If you wish to participate, you may wish bring a yoga mat.
You do not need a dance partner but feel free to bring a friend or your mini.
No, you do not need a dance partner but feel free to bring a friend. Brazilian Samba no pe is a solo dance.
Classes typically start with a fun warm up to get our bodies moving and our heart rates going (cardio). Followed by some squats and lunges to strengthen our bodies and then into some drills to learn the basic steps of samba. Our classes also include some parading (walking, body movements and posing) to help push us out of our comfort zones and have a bit of fun. All music played during class is a mix of Brazilian samba (many different styles). Feel in another world and energized from the upbeat rhythm of the music. The class will conclude with a warm down and stretch. Feel free to hang around for a social chat and get to know a beautiful group of like minded people.
Please bring a positive and kind attitude to class. It is absolutely ok to ask questions throughout class and absolutely speak up if you need help. Feel free to arrive to class early if you would like to ask any questions or need extra help. Learning a new skill like dance or fitness can be confronting for some people and the best learning environments are ones where people feel comfortable and safe. Please try to make an effort to say hello to people in class to help make everyone feel safe and welcomed. SambaSar has no tolerance for bullying or exclusive behaviour. SambaSar aims to build a supportive and vibrant community, using samba dance and fitness to bring people together with a joyful activity to look forward to each week. Promoting health, both physical and mental is a top priority.
